Our Journey to Italy: A Slice of Pizza Championship Glory

Our recent trip to Italy for the Pizza World Championship was nothing short of extraordinary.

While we didn't clinch the top spot, the experience was a testament to the passion and dedication of pizza makers worldwide.

Competing among 55 nations and facing off against hundreds of talented contestants was a thrill. The level of skill and camaraderie was palpable, igniting our enthusiasm for the art of pizza making even more than before (if that's even possible!).

Beyond the competition, we had the opportunity to delve into Italy's culinary heritage.

Visiting the Le 5 Stagioni mill in the outskirts of Parma, where our pizza dough flour is produced, was truly incredible. Witnessing the state-of-the-art facilities and technology reaffirmed our commitment to quality ingredients.

Exploring a Parmigiano Reggiano factory was equally enlightening (and mouth watering!). Learning about the meticulous process behind this protected designation of origin (DOP) product deepened our appreciation for its unique flavour and tradition.

Of course, our trip wasn't just about pizza and cheese. Indulging in pasta, torta frita, Parma ham and local aperitivos made this an unforgettable journey. We also took some time to explore castles, immersing ourselves in Italy's rich history and culture.

But perhaps the most rewarding aspect of our journey was the friendships we formed. Bonding with fellow pizza enthusiasts from around the globe reinforced our sense of community and shared passion.

As we bid farewell to Italy, we carry with us fond memories and newfound inspiration. We may not have emerged victorious this time, but we'll be back, ready to proudly wave the Irish flag and continue our pursuit of pizza perfection. Until we meet again, arrivederci Italia! 🤌☘️
